Ask your legislators to invest in Lake Street's recovery

We need your help in the next phase of Lake Street’s recovery.

The past few years have brought tremendous challenges for our corridor. The civil unrest that unfolded after the murder of George Floyd has had a lasting impact on our city and resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars in damage to Lake Street.

In response, you have worked tirelessly to rebuild – and we have been committed to supporting your efforts by offering grants, forgivable loans, technical assistance, and other programs.

While we are proud of what we have accomplished together, much remains to be done. Government has a critical role to play in our corridor’s recovery, but state funding has been slow to arrive.

We believe this year’s historic budget surplus presents a unique opportunity to make a generational impact on Lake Street’s future. But we need your voice.

You can help by asking your legislators to invest in small businesses and Lake Street's recovery.

Dear [INSERT LEGISLATOR(S) HERE]:

As a [resident or local small business owner], I ask that you support state investment in Lake Street’s recovery.

The Lake Street corridor in Minneapolis suffered hundreds of millions of dollars in damages after the civil unrest in 2020. Businesses like mine have been working hard to rebuild and recover, but we face tremendous challenges.

Small businesses bring incredible economic and cultural value to our state – and our government has a role to play in their recovery.

The historic budget surplus presents a unique opportunity to support this full recovery and make a generational impact on the future of Lake Street. Please support legislation that invests in small businesses and the Lake Street corridor.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

[NAME]
[CITY OF RESIDENCY]
[BUSINESS / ORGANIZATION TITLE IF APPLICABLE]
