Food Forward Program
The City of Minneapolis is actively enrolling restaurants in zip codes 55407 and 55408 for the upcoming Food Forward cohort. Food Forward gives restaurants hands‑on support to reduce wasted food, improve kitchen efficiency, donate surplus meals, and save on costs.
At Midtown Global Market, six businesses - Intown Sushi, Pham’s Rice Bowl, El Taco Torro, Andy’s Garage, Cultural Wellness Center, and Rollin Nolen’s BBQ - participated in Food Forward. The participating businesses quickly began seeing results. Several used organics bins to track what was being discarded, helping them improve prep practices and reduce loss. They composted 6,000 pounds of food scraps and surplus food in just one month!
