Lake Street Safety Center Closing

The Lake Street Safety Center (2228 E Lake St) will close on Wednesday, October 21st, as the City's lease ends and the pilot project concludes. Since opening in November 2024, the center has connected residents, businesses, and visitors with safety resources, support services, and community providers.

The City opened this safety center as a pilot to explore how to make community safety services more accessible and coordinated.

Lessons learned from the Lake Street Safety Center will help shape the future South Minneapolis Community Safety Center by guiding:

  • The design

  • Partnerships

  • Operation of the new safety center
