Ramadan Guide

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.

Ramadan is expected to start between Tuesday, February 17, 2026, and Thursday, February 19, 2026. Eid al-Fitr, a celebration which lasts one to three days and marks the end of Ramadan, is expected to begin on Thursday, March 19, 2026.

On Lake Street, Ramadan is very prominent as many businesses and nonprofits practice the Muslim faith or serve the community. Usually, this is when our streets come alive, friends and families gather, and businesses thrive from purchases for Iftar, a communal celebration that breaks the fast each night.

This year feels different due to the disruption caused by I.C.E activities here in Minnesota; our Lake Street businesses are feeling the pressure. The Lake Street Council condemns the federal immigration actions. We highly encourage all individuals to know their rights.

This Ramadan, there are many ways to show up for our Muslim community members on Lake Street. This time is more than fasting; it’s about reflection, devotion, and community.
